Special General Plan Ratification Election - May 18, 2021

The Ballot will include the following proposition: Proposition 461: Proposal to the voters for ratification of the 2021 Town of Cave Creek General Plan, as adopted by the Town Council on November 2, 2020, Resolution No. R2020-27. Arizona law requires that each Municipality adopt a comprehensive, long-range plan for the preservation and development of the municipality. It further requires that the General Plan shall consist of a statement of community goals and development policies and shall include maps and text setting forth objectives, principles, standards and plan proposals.  The plan is also required to address certain elements; those elements are listed below. The General Plan shall include provisions that identify changes or modifications to the plan that constitute amendments and major amendments.

The General Plan serves as a guiding document for implementing the Town Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, as well as the Capital Improvement Program.  The scope of the plan encompasses policy recommendations that address overall community development patterns and long-term land use trends.  The General Plan is often considered to be the community’s blueprint for determining actions relative to preservation, growth and development.

On November 2, 2020, Cave Creek Town Council passed Resolution No. R2020-27 authorizing a special election for ratifying the 2021 Town of Cave Creek General Plan to be held on May 18, 2021.  A publicity pamphlet with information on Proposition 461; Town of Cave Creek 2021 General Plan will be mailed to every household with a registered voter in the Town of Cave Creek.
